Happy St Patrick’s Day

St Patrick’s Day which falls on 17th March of every year commemorates the death of Saint Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland. The day which was once considered to be a religious feast with visits to church and performing prayers has now transfigured into a day of celebration including roaring parties, music and dance festivals with a diverse range of food.


How to celebrate St Patrick’s Day?

1.       Though St Patrick’s Day is celebrated in many parts of the world, it is historically a festival of Irish culture. So celebrating the day in Ireland would equal nothing else.

2.       The St Patrick’s Day parade will take place in many parts of the world. The parade will usually happen for 4 to 5 hours on the main streets of the city. One can be a part of the parade by joining the parade committee and by actually performing in the parade or find a perfect bleacher and watch the parade with your friends and family.

3.       On this day, Not only the Irish wear green, everybody turns to be an Irish for the day and wear green color costumes or dress up like a leprechaun. Shamrock stamped t shirts or accessories are all worn are as part of Men’s clothing. Women’s wear includes anything in green, like a short dress, a gown or simply a green blouse and pants or skirt. According to the Irish community, shamrock, a three leaved plant, is believed to be used a Holy trinity by Patron Saint.


4.       Any festival is incomplete without food. Especially the Paddy’s day has its own Irish delicacies. The spread generally includes corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, Sheppard’s pie and Guinness float.
